Child Psychology

Maybe you are looking for counseling for your child or adolescent.  Children can be greatly impacted by family conflict, difficulties in school, trouble with peers, and other stressors.  Adolescents can struggle with stress management, have poor self-esteem or begin to make poor decisions.  Often times children and adolescents do not want to talk about what’s going on, but you may have noticed he or she is less energetic, sullen, withdrawn, irritable, doing poorly in school, or acting out.  Parents are often surprised that sometimes, despite having a good relationship with their child or adolescent, they feel left out of the loop of their child’s emotional life. Children and adolescents are concerned about upsetting their parents and feeling judged about their thoughts and feelings. My counseling services offer children and adolescents of all ages a comfortable outlet to explore their emotions and help teach them how to cope more effectively.

Children are often misunderstood and rarely given their voice to express themselves. Yet, they present a challenge because they do not know how to put their feelings into words. They require patience and unique techniques in order to help them understand and resolve their feelings. I have always loved interacting with children and this was a way for me to help them in the process.
