Family Therapy

Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy. Through family therapy, families or individuals within a family learn better ways to interact with each other and resolve conflicts. If your family is feeling torn apart, family therapy may help you heal. Family therapy, also referred to as couple and family therapy, family systems therapy, and family counseling, is a branch of psychotherapy that works with families to nurture change and development. It tends to view change in terms of the interaction between family members. It emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health.

I am committed to helping individuals and families achieve their goals by practicing solution focused counseling techniques. My approach is to equip individuals and families with strategies to improve relationships and enhance overall functioning. I do this by helping people to understand the root of the problem and offering hope for improvement. Using a strengths-based approach, I will help you identify personal and family strengths that will enrich your relationships, enable you to experience greater fulfillment in life, and have a better understanding of yourself and your relationships.

I have found that working with multiple members of a family enhances the family counseling experience and adds to the success of the treatment on strengthening families by encouraging spouses, children, and significant others to join in the counseling process by attending sessions together and becoming active participants in the process.  I have helped people heal from past hurts and experience better relationships through the preservation of family relationships.  In the process of family therapy, all individuals learn to communicate in a clear, direct, non-threatening, positive manner.
